A couple years ago, I was in a Bible reading going through Leviticus. Someone brought up Mark 7:14–23 with respect to the dietary laws. That sparked some discussion...

When we read through the Levitical law with the Lord's words in mind – it's what comes out of us that defiles us, not what goes in – we begin to see that even when we're so careful about what we take in, what comes out still defiles us (Deuteronomy 23:12–14).

Think about that! Take every precaution we can to only allow what's pure in, and what comes out will still defile. That's worth thinking about.

  1. What shall we say then? Shall we
continue in sin that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are
dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were
baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized
    into His death?
Therefore we are buried with Him by
baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory
of the Father, even so we also should
    walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together
in the likeness of His death, we shall
be also in the likeness of His resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified
with Him, that the body of sin might be
    destroyed, that henceforth we should
    not serve sin,
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
    (Romans 6:1-7)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is
    a new creature: old things have passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
    (2 Corinthians 5:17)

For He hath made Him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin, that we might be made
the righteousness of God in Him.
    (2 Corinthians 5:21)

And I saw no temple therein: for the
Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the
    temple of it.
And the city had no need of the sun,
neither of the moon, to shine in it:
for the glory of God did lighten it,
and the Lamb is the light thereof.
And the nations of them which are saved
shall walk in the light of it: and the
kings of the earth do bring their glory
    and honour to it.
And the gates of it shall not be shut
at all by day: for there shall be no
    night there.
And they shall bring the glory and
honour of the nations into it.
And there shall no wise enter into it
    any thing that defileth, neither
    whatsoever worketh abomination, or
maketh a lie: but they which are
written in the Lamb's book of life.
    (Revelation 21:22-27)
